Patient Writes Note of Gratitude to Staff

October 22, 2020

To the outstanding staff at NAMC:

As a healthcare professional, the role I have most wanted to avoid, especially during current pandemic circumstances, is that of patient. Unfortunately, that is the role I found myself in during the early morning hours of Friday, October 16th, 2020 when I presented to your Emergency Department with abdominal pain and a fever.

Having a general idea of what the issue might be, I knew I’d be in good hands. I did not know, however, just how skilled and caring those hands would turn out to be. I can say without hesitation or exaggeration that, from triage to discharge, the care I received at NAMC was flawless. I encountered multiple individuals across multiple departments and not once did I feel anything less than genuinely cared for and safe. Not once. In fact, even though I would be having surgery on Friday afternoon, I felt confident enough in the care I was receiving that I encouraged my wife and son to leave for the vacation we had planned for the weekend.

To Jordan, Tyrone, and Allyson in the Emergency Department, thank you for the reassurance, laughter, and for keeping me comfortable.

To Jill, thank you for arranging an opportunity for me to see my son before surgery when he wasn’t allowed to come to the floor.

To Susan, Sarah, Jeannette, Kenzie, Rochelle, and the patient care techs on the floor, thank you for your kindness, for making sure I always received my antibiotics on time, and for keeping my pain managed so well.

To the transporters, CT Scan technician, pre-op staff, Dr. Desselle, anesthesia providers, and PACU staff, thank you for making sure I was safe when I was most vulnerable.

And to Dr. Bailey, thank you for following my care throughout the weekend and for being so kind when delivering news that I’d need to stay in the hospital an extra night.

I am so grateful for the team of skilled and caring individuals I encountered at NAMC. Thank you for keeping me safe – and for doing so with a genuinely caring attitude.

Sincerely,

Kevin Callaway
